United Kingdom History Cartoon Buddy.
Hello Buddy old thing... history it is said, is bunk... well, at penguin people prep school I did find the dear old subject enough to bore the socks off ones jolly old pinkies. But soon I realised, that the very path of all your human individual futures, are also a reflection of what events and people have passed through planet earth in past times.
Through both war and peace, British royalty has been an ultimate reflection of the many various changes, both good and bad, within the history of the British isles and of it's inhabitants way of life. Some of my notes made of them, are listed upon this page.
It is not however, as easy to be a member of the royal family today as it was in the extremely ruthless, so called good old days'. As any sort of criticism of royal rule or lack of respect for them in the past, may have been met by a swift despatch to the old head chopping block by the ultimate powers and rulers of the land. In today's world, thank goodness, the royals have no such dictatorial power and are mainly seen as figure-heads of the state only, retaining the task of cementing all the various countries that make up Britain together, with a historical respect for the position of queen or king.
From a historical background of internal wars, power struggles and dictatorship's, Britain has evolved very well indeed, and it is credit to this relatively small United Kingdom, that many people from all over this large planet still wish to come and live their own lives here.
My history notes.
Here is how the monarchy started... the Celt peoples invaded and controlled the island by 200 BC, there were many various local tribal leaders. The Romans invaded Britain 55 BC (Julius Caesar) and by 6O AD had control of the island to form the Roman province of Britannia but only to the far reaching point of the Hadrian’s wall area in Scotland (the Picts tribe were never subdued). After the Romans had left (7th century), the Anglo Saxon tribes formed the first kingdoms in England (of Northumberland, Mercia, Wessex). Wales remained Celtic lands and by 500 AD An Irish tribe (the Scots) had settled in the far North of the British isle to Argyll forming the beginning of Scotland. By 827 AD the first King of the unified Angeland' was crowned, by 843 BC the Scots and Picts tribes were united by Kenneth McAlpin to form a united Scotland.

Harold II son of the Earl of Wessex had sworn an oath of allegiance to Duke William of Normandy that William was the rightful king of England as the childless king Edward The Confessor had promised him the throne on his death. Backed by the royal counsel or Witan (who did not want a foreign ruler) Harold broke his oath and took the throne on the Kings death in January 1066. Duke William called upon Harold to honour his oath and when this was refused William landed his army of around 9000 men unopposed at Pervensy near Beachy Head 28 September 1066.
