Hello Buddy... my name is Persi Penguin Person, welcome to my general knowledge cartoon buddy club notes page containing the history of the human populated land area once known as Persia, and now known as Iran.

For myself, I have always found that for humans to really understand the subject of history itself, then they have to look at this particular subject objectively, and without any sort of the dark values of evil, hate, anger or resentment, that may be residing within themselves, and which has always sought to cloud the judgement of light, goodness and peace.

For it is, as it always has been, that although some of the things that have changed and evolved throughout time itself have been good, some of the things have also been very bad. It remains up to the human individual to decide which of these changes is which (good or bad), within all that has come to pass throughout mankind’s evolving civilisations living upon, and then passing through time on this small revolving Planet.

Here I shall leave you, as I do tend to go on a bit, but as I go, I shall leave you with this one thought as you ponder the rights and wrongs of human history.

If one should wish to teach the ' future ' a lesson, then teach peace, respect of all fellow humankind, of all types, and love of the Great Creator Spirit Of Peace, as is written in human holy texts.

(You may of course, not always achieve you goal as lessons go, because students throughout human time have always retained the free will of their own to make wrong choices)

But, if you should choose to teach the ' future ' conflict war and hate, please remember, that then you will then certainly reap what you have sown, and, along with this, the dubious rewards of the Dark Evil that has always hounded all of mankind since the dawn of creation, and lastly, but most importantly, the condemnation of the Great Spirit Of Peace and Light... Your own human choices are exactly that, your own.

Around 200 BC, Aryan tribes migrated here from southern Russia.

During 612 BC, the Medes tribe from the northwest area attacked and destroyed the Assyrian Empire situated in the west of the country.

550 BC, Cyrus The Great attacked and destroyed the Medes tribal empire and he founded the First Persian Empire (the Achaemenid), extending his conquest of Empire within much of Asia Minor and Babylonia (the present day Syria and Palestine area).

539 BC, Darius I further expanded the Persian Empire into the present day Afghanistan region, this expanded Persian Empire now becoming the dominant world power at this time.

499 BC - 449 BC, Greece and Persia at war and the result was the end of Persian dominance of the Ancient World.

330 BC, Alexander The Great, a Greek (Macedonian) King, forces the collapse of the Persian Achaemenid Empire.

224 AD, Ardashir founds the Persian Sassanaian Empire whose Capital City is Ctesiphon toward the northeast of the country.

637 AD, The Sassanaian Empire is attacked and destroyed by Muslim Arabs at the battle of Qadisiya.

750 AD - 1258 AD, Caliph rule (Islamic Civil and Religious leadership) known as the Abbasaid Dynasty with the capital city moved to Baghdad (present day Iraq)

1380 AD, Tamerlane (a Mongol leader) conquers Persia.

1501, The Safavid dynasty produce great architecture and artworks. More so under the rule of Abbas I (The Great) 1588 AD - 1629 AD.

1737 AD - 1747 AD, Nadir Shah Afshar deposes the Safavid rule.

1790 AD, The Qajar Dynasty transferred the Capital City from Esfahan in the centre of Iran to Tehran in the north.

19th Century, Russian expansion and influence in the north of the country takes Georgia and Armenia from the Persian Empire area.

1801 AD - 1828 AD, The British Empire influences the south and east of this country and in 1856-1857, engages in conflict with Iran over control of the Herat area of now western Afghanistan, which was then situated under the area of the old Persian Empire.

1906 AD, Revolution, after which a Parliamentary constitution is adopted.

1925 AD, The Qajar dynasty which has become weak and rife with corruption is overthrown. Colonel Reza Khan a nationalist Iranian army cavalry officer is backed by the British Empire and is crowned Shah (meaning, King Of Kings), becoming known as Reza Shah Pahlavi.

Modernisation of the economy and country follows. Along with reforms, a new broad policy is launched for the society itself within the country, with the aim of moving toward less traditional rigid religious values by instigating new freedoms, but these reforms have the consequence of alienating the more traditionalist supporters.

1935 AD, The name Persia is substituted for the name Iran.

1941 AD, During World War Two Pahlavi Shah abdicates as he is pro Nazi German, and the country is occupied by the Allied forces. His son Mohammad Reza Pahlavi replaces him.

1946 AD, After the end of the Second World War and Nazi Germany, along with it's supporters are defeated, the Allied occupation forces of Britain, America and Soviet Russia leave.

1951 AD, Muhammad Mossadeq, the quite alienated anti British and American prime minister, nationalises the oilfields.

1953 AD, Muhammad Mossadeq is deposed and the nationalisation of oilfields is stopped. The Shah (Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi) takes full control of the government and is backed by the United States.

1970's AD, World wide evolution causes demand for more and more oil and the price rises accordingly. This brings much wealth to the country and rapid expansion of the economy.

1975 AD, A single party system is introduced by the Shah.

1977 AD, Eldest son of exiled religious leader Ayatollah Khomeini dies in what is seen as suspicious circumstances. Subsequent demonstrations by theology students result in six of their deaths by security forces.

1978 AD, Ayatollah Khomeini who is living in France, organises opposition to the Shahs rule and the religious leader demands a return to the principles of peaceful Islam and it's core values. Demonstrators are killed by the hundred in Jaleh Square within the capital Tehran as troops seek to restore order.

1979 AD, Both religious leaders and students unite to demonstrate and the Shah leaves the country. Ayatollah Khomeini returns to Iran and forms a non party Islamic theocratic state. The United States economy is boycotted due mainly to their support of the Shah and 66 hostages are taken at the American embassy in Tehran by Revolutionary factions (released 1981 AD).

1980 AD Exiled Shah dies and Iraq invades Iran (at war until 1990).
